Scott High School

Location: Taylor Mill, KY
Architect: PCA Architecture (Emboss Design)

The multi-phase addition and renovation to Scott High School in Kenton County, Kentucky has been actively progressing for over a decade. The existing building is predominantly a reinforced concrete structure for the second floor with a steel-framed roof. Depending on the specific phase, the new construction has incorporated insulated concrete form (ICF) walls, concrete masonry unit walls, composite steel floor framing, precast floor framing, and steel roof framing. These projects have involved a new Entry, a new Academic Wing, renovations to the Cafeteria, a new practice gym, and other additions and upgrades throughout the campus. Most recently the existing natatorium was demolished with a new natatorium designed and constructed, accompanied by a new lobby. The roof structure for the natatorium incorporates a pair of 120-ft clear span Vierendeel steel trusses that bear on reinforced masonry pilasters.
